软管泵属于蠕动泵的范畴，主要是由一根特制的橡胶软管，对应泵体内转子总成上的一对压辊，当压辊沿着橡胶软管转动时，压辊与泵壳产生的挤压力将橡胶软管压扁，在软管自身弹性和侧导辊的强制下，通过恢复原状产生的真空吸入流体物料，物料在压辊的机械挤压下从管内排出，如此往复循环，从而达到连续输出物料的目的。
